Apr 25, 2026 – Aug 2, 2026

In a moment of reckoning and reimagining for monuments around the world, why do millions of people visit the Rocky statue by the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art? Rising Up traces more than two millennia of artists' engagement with boxing and celebrity — from ancient sculptures to contemporary art — exploring how monuments are made and remade by artists, communities, and time. Organized by guest curator Paul Farber, Director and Co-Founder of Monument Lab, the exhibition features over 150 works by more than 50 artists and brings the Rocky statue inside the museum for the first time.
