BRANDAN HENRY: Arrivals at Art at PHL

BRANDAN HENRY: Arrivals

May 31, 2026 – Dec 31, 2026

Brandan Henry explores identity, solitude, and presence through charcoal and soft pastel drawings. His Marine Corps service, including two overseas tours, deeply impacted him, leading him to pursue fine art. For "Arrivals" at Philadelphia International Airport, Henry presents a drawing of Black children in an open white field. Their upright, still bodies create tension between individuality and isolation, where the white space evokes colonial structures. The figures, fragmented and hypervisible, interrupt and reshape the field, revealing how these spaces attempt to erase Black presence even as the figures endure and refuse to disappear.
