SOSO CAPALDI: Creature Collection

Soso Capaldi, a Philadelphia-based artist, combines whimsical aesthetics with vulnerability. Her exhibition at Philadelphia International Airport features imaginative creatures in an immersive environment, exploring safety, queerness, and mental health. This world-building invites communion with the viewer, using personal histories for healing and transformation, creating a soft space for hard conversations. Capaldi states, "I explore an energy of bliss that happens in childhood that you can never get back." She speaks of reparenting herself and finding self-knowledge through therapy, boundaries, and the accidental wisdom of her creatures, for whom she builds homes and provides safety.
