MEGAN BIDDLE: The Gateway Series

Philadelphia artist Megan Biddle explores the idea of the portal as a threshold between known and unknown states, utilizing traditional and experimental techniques, primarily with glass. Influenced by early Mesoamerican cultures, Biddle uses black glass as a liquid surface inviting viewers to imagine passage beyond it. These glass ‘pools’ are combined with Wissahickon Schist, reflecting on measures of time, natural phenomena, and cycles of life and death, echoing the airport's liminal quality as a site of suspension and movement.
